My name is Steven Hoye and I established Klondike Rod Company in 2006.  My shop is located in the Amish country of western Pennsylvania amidst some fine trout streams and fabled Lake Erie steelhead tribs.  Several years ago when I was an aspiring rod builder and a fly tier of 20+ years, I decided to turn my passion for crafting my own rods from hobby into a full time occupation.

As a “one man shop”, most all of the products which I offer are produced on a custom order basis.  You, the customer, are actively involved in the design process by supplying me with the personalizing features you would like on your product such as colors, wood species, components, wrap designs, logos, name, etc.  As I'm always trying different wood species and trim thread colors in search of that perfect custom reel seat design to compliment a Klondike Rod, I do, from time to time, have some in stock reel seats along with some standard CORONIDORS for sale in my On Line Store.  Or,  if you have an interest in a particular custom designed Klondike Rod product, simply fill out that product's Custom Product Inquiry Form  found in the left page column.

As a rod builder, I have always thought that the reel seat and grip assembly were components of the fishing rod which offered great potential for the rod crafter to further express his creativity when building a custom rod.  Klondike Reel Seats are custom designed by you, the rod crafter, to be able to incorporate your guide wrap / signature wrap design,  thread colors, etc. into your reel seat which, I feel, helps convey a consistent theme to the rod from butt to tip.  Adding a Klondike matching wood “Grip Tip” in front of the cork grip bookends the grip with matching wood components and a matching wood endcap puts the finishing touches on a truly custom look.  A personalized CORONIDOR makes a perfect gift for the cigar aficionado.  Those that know me and those that have purchased a Klondike product know that I'm a little particular about the quality of my work.  My goal...and mission statement... as a craftsman is to produce exquisite yet functional pieces of art.

As an aside, I often get asked why did I name my company Klondike Rod Company?  It's not that I have a craving for a particular ice cream bar.  Klondike Rod Company is named after Klondike, Pennsylvania, a tiny community of just a dozen residents tucked into the midst of the Allegheny National Forest where my fishing camp is located and, yes, Klondike, Pa is on the map...most maps anyway.

Thank you for visiting my website.  This site was built in house and I used a lot of hi res images so some pages might load a little slow.  If you've got 10 minutes to spare, make sure to read my daily journal from my recent fly fishing journey to the region of Patagonia in Argentina.  It was an awesome trip!

I look forward to the opportunity to offer any of my custom services to you regarding your fishing and/or rod building passion.  Please don't hesitate to email me if any questions arise regarding my products.

Also, you're welcome to come visit my shop in New Wilmington, PA at any time.  We'll chew the fat, test cast rods on my pond out back, or, if the hatch is on down at the Neshannock, we'll make sure we don't miss it...
